‘  NOT  A  LIE.  A  MISTAKE.  ‘       Arya  reiterated,  with  a  STUBBORN  little  frown  that  said  she  was  not  going  to  let  this  just—   go.   there  was  almost  something  THREATENING  about  it;  which  would  make  sense  if  you  knew  the  girl.  knew  that  she  was  probably  thinking  he  was  playing  some  TRICK  on  her;  or  it  was  meant  for  some  other  girl  who  was,  actually,  lovely.    she  could  not  FIGHT  AWAY  that  part  of  her  sure  there  was  CO-WORKERS  daring  him,  just  a  prank;  like  at  school.

HER  OWN,  DARK,  GREY  EYES  RAISED  TO  LOOK  INTO  HIS      as  if  trying  to  gage  if  he  was  making  fun  of  her  or  not.      she  opened  her  mouth  to  say  something  else;  but  a  woman  behind  her  told  her  to  hurry  it  up  and  stop  FLIRTING.    to  which,   Arya  turned,  hissing;      ‘  ‘m  not  BLOODY  flirting,  shut  up.  ‘      and  quickly  moved  on  before  the  woman  got  at  her  for  that,  too.  she  went  to  sit  in  the  corner  with  her  drink——      FRUIT  SMOOTHIE;   because  who  got  coffee?

A dry chuckle escapes his lips in response to the girl’s extension of confrontation. While leaning over to send another drink down the line, the man raises his palm shoulder-level and dips his chin as a jesting surrender to her correction. Beneath the façade he ponders for a moment why this girl would take his jest so seriously, but allows his thoughts to rest when the girl is shooed by another — more regular and demanding — customer. While the former takes a seat, the latter rattles off her accusation ( which he does not address ) and drink requests, and the man proffers another sightly twist of the lip.

The mid-evening rush soon follows. The espresso grinder makes a heap of noise; the counter gathers its share of boiling water from the espresso machine; the small trashcan fills with crumpled receipts; the man burns his fingers many a time when multitasking by steaming milk and pouring shots at the same time. Soon after, as clients are settling in their chairs or are satisfied and leaving the happening shop, Jaqen allows a fleeting gaze in the direction of the girl whom he referred to as ‘lovely’ and sees that she’s still in the corner, finishing her drink.

He clocks out, slings on a black overcoat ( seeing as the wind has been taking its toll during twilight as of late ) and locks the staff door behind him. His co-worker proffers a wave and ‘good-bye’; he nods and smiles. In a moment, he’s before the girl and offering a somewhat quizzical lift of brow, waiting until she looks up at him before speaking.

“ A man is curious as to why a girl would find herself in an superb coffee shop and order a fruit smoothie.” It’s clearly a judgement of her taste in drinks; however, there’s a hint of playfulness hiding beneath the man’s heavily-accented voice. “ Next time, a girl could consider allowing a man to make her something much more appetizing?”
